It all came with a price.
No matter how high in the sky your hand reached, it obviously wouldn't grasp the mysterious, yet barren thing named space.
Of course, Earth has been described as a lonely ticking time bomb of a pale blue dot. But this dot cannot function without its close neighbor.
When civilization collapses, all turn to space colonization. Mars, for example. However Venus seemed easier.
However, one man had an idea that would make no one happy. The Moon.
By establishing civilization on a rocky satellite, likely the remnant of a planetary crash, you'd have influence on the Earth.
At least your presence would be a looming threat.
Some would argue that the Moon's influence is minimal and only raises tides every once in a while.
But those unlucky enough to experience the rising facefirst may die.
So this man grabbed onto the idea, held it by the throat, stripped it of any meaning.
Thus exclusive lunar colonization began.
Billionaires came to the moon with their families as a cheap, meaningless thrill.
The bases were fairly high maintenance, and someone had to moderate the process.
But of course it wasn't the fearmongering lunar tourists.
It was common folk, lured in by the absurd possibility of leaving your mark on the world.
In the end, they were underpaid and hungry.
With their bare hands, they reclaimed the idea of peace and security.
The lunar tourism company's base on the moon was looted and its higherups were murdered outside by depravation of oxygen.
In the end, remained a lonely sea and craters.
